PROLOGUE
Shivalik Hills College of Education is located at the foot hills of Shivalik hills in Village Patti, P. O. Manakpur Tehsil Anandpur sahib, Distt. Ropar. The college is surrounded by the green fields on one side and hills on other. The lap of nature and its beautiful sights provide a peaceful and favourable environment to the students for learning.
The institute had its first academic session from 2005-06 when the Bachelor of Education course used to be of one year. From 2015-17, the College is running two year B.Ed. Course as per the new guidelines. The institute is rendering services in various teaching subjects of science and humanities streams. The co-education college is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala is approved by N. C. T. E. The institute is committed to achieve excellence in imparting teacher education. The mission of this institute is to equip the students with latest knowledge and encouraging them in exploring their hidden talents.
This College of education has been started by a bunch of very experienced and well known educationists who exhibited commitment to the noble cause of education for more than three decades. The institution has been started with a mission to provide education for excellence through rich resources of library and well-equipped laboratories. The computer laboratory and the language-learning laboratory are some of the unique features for ensuring pupil teacher’s proficiency in computer and language skills. The effectiveness of the practical classroom practitoners will be ensured through the micro-lesson sessions with feedback session through CCTV as well as from the peer group observation for subsequent improvement. This way the purpose of the study will shift from mere theroretical orientation to the preparation of practical classroom practitioners. The tutorials, group discussions, brain stroming sessions and seminars will provide a creative forum to every student. Also, the extensive use of innovative technology like team teaching, simulated teaching and interaction analysis to develop the requisite competencies among the teacher trainees will be an addendum to the attempt at thoroughness of the teacher preparation.
